Q&A with author M.W. Brown

In your own words, how would you describe your book?

Under the Moonlight is a story about a BDSM dominant, Liam, and his new submissive, Beccy. Liam coaxes her away from her reclusive life down to London and their relationship deepens. On a visit back to her hometown in the Lake District they begin to unravel startling family secrets. When bloody corpses are discovered, Liam questions Beccy’s sanity and his own, and they are dragged into a twisted, dark fairy tale going back centuries. At the same time, we follow the story of Tommy, who is trying to discover the truth behind his brother’s disappearance and the terrifying creature he’s certain is responsible.

What are some hashtags you’d use to draw readers in?

#Werewolves #DarkRomance #Passion #Thriller

What surprised you most when writing this book?

I always love it when characters take me on a journey I was never expecting, and this happened with Liam’s and Beccy’s relationship. It was fascinating researching and discovering the depth of love and trust that a dom and sub can have and the various rules of this type of relationship. Another thing that surprised me was the volume and variety of werewolf lore.

Can you tease us with the first few lines of your book?

Gravel crunched under Paul’s trainers. He flinched and froze in his tracks. Although the sound was swallowed by the persistent rustle of the cool wind through the dry grass, to Paul’s finely tuned ears it seemed as loud as a police siren. He waited for any tell-tale lights to come on in the farmhouse, silently cursing the homeowners for not paving their driveway.

Do you have any favorite werewolf characters?

I do love the grizzly comedy elements of An American Werewolf in London and the main character, David’s reactions to discovering he is a werewolf. David is the perfect blend of comedy and tragedy. His transformation into a werewolf is such a memorable moment for me.

And last but not least, what are some of your favorite movies dealing with magic?

I am a fan of the Harry Potter films, and also Hocus Pocus, The Craft and Practical Magic

About the Author

Follow M W Brown down the skeleton-strewn path. The international bestselling author longs to lure you into her dark, twisted imagination, lock the door and wait for you to scream.
Her love of all things supernatural and terrifying started at an early age. That love exploded when she discovered Steven King, Clive Barker, and Shirley Jackson. She devoured ghost stories, horror films, and dabbled in writing her own. Brown studied mathematics and psychology at university because there wasn’t a course in horror and found numbers and people can be just as terrifying. But it took her decades in finance to follow her true passion and realize her macabre imagination needed an outlet.
Brown has penned Portraits in Flesh, The Lingering Taste of Salted Chocolate, and co-written The Broken Mirror Series, as well as over a dozen short stories.
